State Highway One north of Puhoi is closed as emergency services respond to a crash between Schollum Access Road and Mahurangi West Road.
Three cars and one truck were involved in the crash, police said.
Several people suffered moderate injuries.
Police urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes if possible.
