MetService has lifted a thunderstorm warning across the central North Island that threatened to bring torrential rain and flash flooding to some areas.
Forecasters said the region east of Lake Taupo across to Lake Waikaremoana was particularly at risk of flooding and slips in low-lying areas with streams, rivers or narrow valleys, but the warning has now been lifted.
