The person found dead after a house fire near Kaikoura has been identified as Timon Arama Garbes.
Fire crews found the house in well ablaze Waipapa Bay when they arrived at 8.30pm on Saturday.
A police spokesperson said the 31-year-old's family had been notified of his death.
An investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
