Taranaki Health Board boss resigns

10:17 am on 13 February 2016

The long-standing chief executive of the Taranaki District Health Board, Tony Foulkes, has resigned after 12 years.

Mr Foulkes was seriously injured in an accident last year and has been on a return-to-work programme since October.

He has been responsible for a budget of more than $338 million and was instrumental in securing funding for the $80 million Project Maunga redevelopment at Taranaki Base Hospital.

Mr Foulkes said after 23 years in senior health management roles he was keen to work in the areas of community development and human rights.

He leaves at the end of the month and Rosemary Clements will be acting chief executive.
