A young pregnant Whanganui woman was one of two people killed in a head-on collision on State Highway 3 at Kaitoke early this morning.
Emily Hurley, 20, was killed along with Albert Noel Burns, 47, who was driving the other car.
"It is too early to determine exactly what may have caused this crash and until that investigation is complete police will not be speculating on any aspect," police said in a statement.
The deaths have been referred to the coroner.
