A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision that has closed part of State Highway 1 in North Otago.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said the highway at Hampden, south of Oamaru, would be closed until about 7pm.
No detours were available so motorists were advised not to travel through Hampden until later tonight.
The police and emergency services were at the scene of the crash, which happened about 2.45pm.
A police spokesperson said the motorcyclist died and the driver of the other vehicle was being treated by ambulance staff.
