A man who illegally dumped Canterbury earthquake waste on a Hororata farm has been sentenced to two months' community detention and 200 hours' community service.

Barry Forster transferred at least 15 truck and trailer loads of demolition waste to the farm, where it was tipped into a pit and burned or buried.

He pleaded guilty last month to three charges of breaching the Resource Management Act and was sentenced in the Christchurch District Court yesterday.

The sentence included a seven-day-a-week curfew.

When Environment Canterbury visited the site it found demolition material such as timber, wiring, reinforcing steel, bricks, concrete and piping in the pits.
