Five people killed in wild Indian elephant attacks

Officials in India say wild elephants have killed at least five people in two separate attacks, triggering panic among villagers in West Bengal state.

In one incident yesterday, four people were killed by a group of elephants.

One of the animals died after it was shot with a tranquiliser gun.

Conservationists said wild elephants were increasingly straying into villages due to the destruction of their habitat.
