International investors look to NZ

A study by advisory firm KPMG points to increasing international investor interest in New Zealand, as the low dollar makes mergers and acquisitions more attractive.

The latest survey shows the number of companies looking for merger and acquisition opportunities has increased 13 percent in March, over the year earlier.

KPMG director of mergers and acquisitions Nick McKay said the lower New Zealand dollar had made local companies more attractive, as they typically attracted a premium price.

He said the interest was widespread, coming from China, Canada, the United States, Japan and Australia.
