A man has been arrested in connection with an attack on a man at house in Avondale, Christchurch.

Police arrived on site about 11.30 last night, and a police dog found a man nearby who has now been charged with aggravated burglary and wounding with intent to injure.

The injured man, who suffered stab wounds and concussion in the attack, has been released from hospital.

Detective Sergeant Ross Tarawhiti said the attacker didn't appear to know the victim.

While the victim was incapacitated a number of items were stolen from the house, including credit cards, Mr Tarawhiti said.
