The NZ Transport Agency is warning motorists to expect more delays than usual if they are heading over the Brynderwyn Hills south of Whangarei this evening.
Massive roadworks on State Highway One on the northern side of the hill have been slowing traffic for months.
But if the weather holds, contractors will be working on the south side of the Brynderwyns from tonight until 6am tomorrow, and traffic will be down to one lane.
The work involves improving sections of the road surface, cleaning road edge markers , repairing broken or damaged signs, and clearing culverts.
