NZ to reinstate formal talks with Iran

The Foreign Minister Murray McCully will travel to Tehran this weekend to reinstate talks with Iran.

Mr McCully will meet Iran's foreign minister and other members of the government to discuss Middle Eastern regional security issues and trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Formal talks, known as the Political and Economic Cooperation Commission, will be resumed.

Mr McCully will also sign an agricultural cooperation agreement to support exchanges between the two countries farmers and producers.

He will then travel to Istanbul to attend a United Nations' humanitarian summit.
