Auckland police are investigating after a woman woke to find an intruder lying on top of her.
The man broke into the woman's Avondale home yesterday morning, but fled when she woke up.
Detective Senior Sergeant Marcia Murray said a scene examination had been completed and evidence had been seized for forensic testing.
She said the victim was very distressed.
