Serious crash in south Auckland

Four people have been taken to hospital after the car they were in crashed into a tree in Auckland.

Police said a car carrying four people hit a tree on Ferguson Street, in Mangere East, shortly after 9am.

Three people including the driver were trapped in the car.

The St John ambulance service said all four occupants have been taken to Middlemore hospital, two in a serious condition and two in a moderate condition.

Ferguson Street is closed between Yates Road and Carnac Street.

The serious crash unit is investigating.
