Police are looking for witnesses after a 14-year-old boy was hit by a car in Auckland.
The car, which did not have headlights on, ran a red light on Great North Road in the suburb of Avondale on Thursday night and hit the boy as he walked across a pedestrian crossing.
The boy went over the bonnet before hitting the road, and suffered a leg injury, police said.
The driver, described as a bald, brown-skinned man, got out to check his vehicle but left without checking on the boy.
The car was a black Range Rover-type car with silver strips, police said.
