A new Pasifika Community Centre has been opened at the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) campus in Auckland.
Minister for Pacific Peoples Sam Lotu-Iiga said the new facility would be a place where the Pacific community could come together to increase skills and knowledge.
One in four children born in Auckland were of Pacific descent, and Mr Lotu-Iiga said such facilities would help young Pacific people have an increasing influence on New Zealand's future.
Thirty-five percent of students at MIT are Pasifika.
