Auckland Transport plans to save $850,000 by moving locations

Auckland Transport has released more detail of its planned move to a single downtown location, saying it'll save about $850,000 a year.

The council-owned agency will lease the former Vodafone headquarters in Fanshawe Street.

By winding up leases scattered across 19 locations it will reduce its total floorspace by nearly 20 percent.

Auckland Transport said the need to relocate was triggered by the end of its lease of 18-hundred square metres at Smales Farm in Takapuna.

A third of its existing space is in the high-value waterfront HSBC and AMP buildings.
