Goff objects to KiwiSaver bill urgency

12:30 pm on 20 May 2011

Labour leader Phil Goff says the Government is denying New Zealanders the chance to ask questions in the select-committee process by pushing KiwiSaver legislation through under urgency.

Mr Goff says the Government has lied and does not want to admit that it is going back on promises to leave KiwiSaver untouched.

He says it cannot continue to thrive as a successful scheme when the Government keeps changing the goalposts.

MPs resumed debate on the Budget on Friday morning as the Government pushes through cuts to KiwiSaver and Working for Families under urgency.
