Pumpkin Patch signs new sales deals

8:04 am on 7 March 2012

Children's clothing company Pumpkin Patch has signed two new deals to sell its product in the Middle East and Mexico.

One of the company's Middle East partners, Jawad Business Group, says it will start selling the cheaper Charlie and Me line in 25 stores over the next 12 months.

Pumpkin Patch has also signed a distribution agreement with leading Mexican department store chain Liverpool to sell its product in 24 of its 79 stores later this year.

The company lost $1.8 million last year, closed all its US stores and is quitting its British retail business.

Chief executive Neil Cowie says that, rather than opening its own stores, the company is now working on international wholesale and franchise deals.

Mr Cowie says the company won't see a return on its investment in the partnerships until the second half of 2013 but he says there are more deals in the pipeline.

The company expects to unveil a number of new international and online deals in the next two months.
