The benchmark NZX 50 rose 1 point to close at 3403 on turnover of $116 million on Wednesday.
In currency markets at 5.27pm the dollar was trading at 81.53 US cents, 77.32 Australian cents, 51.86 pence, 65.85 yen and 0.6209 euro.
The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.51.
Fletcher Building was down 2 cents to $6.64, Telecom was up 5 cents to $2.32 and Chorus was down 1 cent to $3.32.
Sky City Entertainment was down 2 cents to $3.85 and Sky Television was up 3 cents to $5.19.
Tower was down 7 cents to $1.63. Contact Energy was unchanged at $4.92. Port of Tauranga was down 30 cents to $10.95.
Air New Zealand was down 1 cent to $0.86. Goodman Fielder was down 5 cents to $0.85. The Warehouse was up 3 cents to $2.57.
