Kiwifruit marketer and exporter Zespri has reiterated its crop will fall 17% this year, mainly due to the Psa vine disease.
The Te Puke-based organisation has begun picking this year's harvest.
It says the crop is expected to produce 95 million trays, compared with the record high of 115 million trays collected in 2011.
Zespri says this year's production will be closer to a more normal season.
Green kiwifruit is estimated to produce about three-quarters of the harvest, with gold kiwifruit making up another 21% and organic kiwifruit and newly-commercialised varieties making up the rest.
