Market up one point at Tuesday close

The New Zealand sharemarket edged up slight on Tuesday, with the NZX 50 ending the trading day up 1 point at 3487.

Turnover was $72 million.

Among the major movements, Fletcher Building was up 14 cents to $6.92, Telecom gained 3.5 cents to $2.48, Chorus was down 9 cents to $3.50 and Contact Energy ended down 10 cents at $4.68.

Auckland International Airport was unchanged at $2.46 and Air New Zealand gained 1 cent to 87 cents.

Sky City Entertainment was down 4 cents at $3.87, Sky Television Network shed 16 cents to close at $5.10 and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 8 cents to $2.28.

Ports of Tauranga was up 5 cents to $10.75, AMP was down 2 cents to $5.42, Pumpkin Patch was up 7 cents to $1.05 and Mainfreight gained 5 cents to close at $9.50.

In currency markets, at 5.20pm the New Zealand dollar was buying 82.46 US, 77.95 Australian, 51.96 pence, 68.77 Yen, and 0.6228 euro.

The TWI was at 73.37.
