Air NZ patronage drops 3%

9:28 am on 22 March 2012

Air New Zealand says passenger numbers fell 3% to about 1 million in February compared with the same period a year ago.

Fewer people travelled domestically, as did travellers here from North America and Britain.

Air New Zealand says earthquakes in Christchurch and Japan have affected travelling numbers from that country, though more people visited from China due to more flights from that part of the world.

Yields rose nearly 4% as it lifted international and domestic fares.
