The NZX 50 was up 12 points to close at 3484 on turnover of $106 million on Tuesday.
Fletcher Building was up 12 cents at $6.99, Pumpkin Patch up 2 cents at $1.02, Sky Television up 3 cents at $5.13, Telecom up 7.5 cents at $2.47 and Chorus up 3 cents at $3.57.
Michael Hill was down 1 cent at $1.01 along with Freightways, which was down 6 cents at $3.90.
In currency markets at 5.31pm the dollar was trading at 82.16 US cents, 78.23 Australian, 51.47 pence, 68.09 yen, and 0.6155 euro. The TWI stands at 72.96.
