The NZX50 fell 12 points to 3468 on turnover of $86 million on Thursday.
In currency markets, the NZ dollar was at 81.73 US, 79.35 Australian cents, 51.41 pence, 67.27 yen, and 0.6215 euro.
The Trade Weighted Index was at 73.14.
Fletcher Building was down 4 cents to $6.20, Telecom was down 3.5 cents at $2.435, Chorus was down 1 cent at $3.46, and Contact Energy was down 2 cents to $4.66.
Sky City Entertainment was down 4 cents to $3.85, Sky Network Television was down 3 cents to $5.25 and The Warehouse was down 10 cents at $2.61.
Cavalier Corp was down 4 cents to $2.05 and Pumpkin Patch was up 2 cents at $1.14 after announcing a deal with Amazon UK on Wednesday.
Goodman Fielder was down 3 cents to 85 cents and Mainfreight up 13 cents to $9.80.
