NZX 50 lifts 7 points after Easter break

The NZX 50 lifted on Tuesday by 7 points to 3475, as investors returned from the Easter trading break.

Fletcher Building rose 6 cents to $6.14, and cornerstone stock Telecom was up 4 cents to $2.48, while Contact Energy rose 3 cents to $4.69.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 2 cents to $2.33, while SkyCity Entertainment jumped 7 cents to $3.92, and Sky Television lifted 4 cents to $5.29.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances (49 cents) and Freightways ($3.90) were unchanged.

Mainfreight dropped 9 cents to $9.71, while Chorus was down 1 cent to $3.45, and Oceana Gold fell 3 cents to $2.98, while electricity company Vector fell 2 cents to $2.68.

At the close of the NZ business day, the NZ dollar was at 82.01 US cents, 79.56 Australian cents, 51.51 pence, 66.8 yen, 0.6248 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.28 points.
