Volkswagen's Audi arm has bought Italian motorcycle firm Ducati for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase, which adds a 12th brand to Volkswagen's portfolio, extends Audi's rivalry with BMW to include superbikes.
The sale has to be approved by regulators before it can be finalised.
