New Zealand market down 38 points on Thursday

The NZX50 index fell 38 points, or 1.1%, to close at 3577 on turnover of $140 million.

When the markets closed the NZ dollar was at 80.66 US, 78.28 Australian, 49.81 pence, 64.68 yen and 0.6133 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 71.82.

Fletcher Building was down 18 cents at $6.35, Telecom was down 6.5 cents at $2.58, Chorus was down 5 cents at $3.52 and Contact Energy was down 9 cents at $4.85.

SkyCity Entertainment was down 1 cent at $3.91, Sky Network Television was up 2 cents to $5.62, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 1 cent at $2.19.

TradeMe was up 1 cent at $3.83

Pumpkin Patch was down 1 cent to $1.01.

NZ Oil & Gas was unchanged at 79.5 cents. Refining NZ was down 4 cents to $2.82.

Westpac was up 38 cents to $29.2 after posting a 24% rise in interim profit.
