The number of new cars registered in New Zealand fell 16.5% in April from the previous month.
But Figures from the New Zealand Transport Agency show that compared with a year earlier, new car registrations rose 27.5% to 5430 last month, following a year-on-year rise of 6.9% in March.
The number of used car registrations, which mainly comprise imported used cars, fell 8.6% on the month, and were 4.5% lower from April 2011, the fourth consecutive monthly decline in the annual rate.
