Job advertisements were down 2% in April compared to the previous month, according to ANZ's job ad series.
The fall follows a 0.9% drop in March.
Internet listings fell 3% although that was partially offset by a 3.5% rise in newspaper job advertising.
ANZ says the trend has been gently declining since the middle of last year, suggesting a fairly tepid labour market persists.
Canterbury job ads unwound most of last month's internet-led rise, but the region still remains the strongest of the main centres.
In both Auckland and Wellington, newspaper job ads rose but internet job ads fell.
