Postie Plus is to relocate its headquarters from Christchurch to Auckland in order to be closer to its biggest market.
The retailer has also appointed two new senior managers as part of its bid to double its size through acquisitions, new stores and a wider range of products.
Postie Plus recently agreed to sell its Babycity chain to focus on its core business.
Group chief executive Ron Boskell says marketing and merchandising functions will move to Auckland early next year, with other functions such as finance and IT remaining in Christchurch until 2014.
Postie Plus shares fell 1 cent to 20 cents on Friday.
