Fletcher Building rose 14 cents to $5.93, Chorus rose 1 cent to $3.12, and Contact Energy rose 9 cents to $4.85.
Sky City Entertainment rose 1 cent at $3.38, and NZ Oil and Gas lifted another 1 cent to 81.5 cents after saying on Wednesday that estimated reserves may increase its Kupe oil and gas field.
Accounting software business Xero rose 3 cents to $4.90.
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was unchanged ($1.96).
The Warehouse fell 2 cents to $2.49, cornerstone stock Telecom fell 4 cents to $2.40, Sky Network TV fell cents to $4.85.
Cavalier fell 2 cents to $1.52 after saying on Thursday that it'll close its yarn spinning plant in south Auckland to cut operating costs as it tackles falling demand from a weak building sector in its Australasian markets.
Vector fell 1 cent to $2.66.
In currency markets, the New Zealand NZ dollar was trading at 79.53 US cents at the close of the local business day, 78.58 Australian, 51 pence, 63.17 yen, 0.6355 Euro, and the TWI was 72.08 points.
