The NZX50 index closed up 23 points, or 0.6% to 3501 on turnover of $104 million on Thursday.
When the markets closed the NZ dollar was buying 79.32 US, 77.88 Australian, 51.13 pence, 63.00 yen and 0.6475 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.20.
Fletcher Building had no change at $6.09, Telecom was up 5.5 cents at $2.58, Chorus was up 6 cents at $3.33 and Contact Energy was up 3 cents to $4.82.
Sky City Entertainment was down 1 cent to $3.43, Sky Network TV was up 2 cents to $5.01 and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 1 cent to $2.03.
The Warehouse was up 4 cents to $2.55, Auckland Airport was up 6 cents to $2.53 and Telstra was up 4 cents to $4.97.
Ryman was up 7 cents to $3.61 and Freightway was down 7 cents to $3.86.
