The Government has released more details about its Advanced Technology Institute, the innovation incubator that is being set up to bring the business and science sectors together.
It says the institute will have a presence in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
It will work closely with the Crown Research Institute, Industrial Research Limited, which is based in the Hutt Valley.
The institute has been awarded $166 million over four years and is expected to be operational by 1 December.
