New Zealand market closes lower

The NZX50 index closed down 6 points, or 0.2% to 3495 on a turnover of $72 million.

The Australian 200 index closed up 14.2 or 0.3% to 4082.

The New Zealand dollar was buying 79.20 US cents, 77.89 Australian cents, 51.30 pence, 62.76 Yen, 0.6486 euro and The Trade Weighted Index was 72.16.

Fletcher Building was down 11 cents to $5.98, Telecom was down 3 cents to $2.55 and Chorus was down 5 cents at $3.28.

Sky City Entertainment was up 3 cents to $3.46, Sky Network TV up 5 cents to $5.06 and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare down 2 cents to $2.01.

The Warehouse was up 3 cents to $2.58, Kathmandu was down 4 cents to $1.40, Pumpkin Patch was down 2 cents to 87 cents and Nuplex was up 5 cents to $2.55.
