NZ market up on Wednesday

The NZX50 rose 5 points to close at 3474 on turnover of $97 million on Wednesday.

When the markets closed the NZ dollar was at 79.65 US, 77.27 Australian, 50.91 pence, 63.93 yen and 0.6486 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.16.

Fletcher Building was down 4 cents to $5.85, Telecom was up 5.5 cents to $2.52, Chorus was up 3 cents to $3.16 and Contact Energy was unchanged at $4.83.

SkyCity Entertainment Group was up 3 cents to $3.58 and Sky Network TV was up 3 cents to $4.98.

Auckland Airport was down 3 cents to $2.48, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 1 cent to $1.97 and The Warehouse was up 3 cents to $2.57.

Xero was down 15 cents to $5.55 after signing a deal with a US payroll provider on Tuesday, and Diligent was down 4 cents at $3.96 after reporting stronger quarterly sales on Tuesday.

Metlifecare was up 6 cents to $2.31 after Major shareholder RVNZ reduced its stake to 43%, Mainfreight was up 16 cents to $9.36, Sanford was up 8 cents to $3.98 and Vector rose 1 cent to $2.73.

AMP was down 9 cents to $4.97 and BurgerFuel was down 4 cents to $1.01.
