Methven plans launch of new shower technology

Designer tap and showerware manufacturer Methven says it's developed a new shower technology that it plans to launch next year.

Speaking at its annual meeting in Auckland on Thursday, chief executive Rick Fala said the company plans to roll out 25 new products this year and is very excited about a brand new technology that it's designed.

Mr Fala said the launch of the new product is timely, as the company develops a budget range of showerware using its signature SatinJet shower technology to cater to the tough British market.

Consumers in the UK are looking for the best products they can get at a cheaper price, he says, but the benefit is that Britain is a high volume market.

Mr Fala said Methven is eight years into a 20 year patent and it's time to make SatinJet available to everyone, not just to the high end premium sector.

He said the company is creating a new shower technology which he said will perform better providing stronger velocity and greater warmth.

"The aesthetic will be quite different and will be quite surprising - so a better performing shower out of a totally different type of environment".
