Credit and other bank cards were used less in July compared to the month before, with transactions in the hospitality sector falling the most.
The total number of electronic card transactions fell 0.8%.
The greatest fall was 3.4% in the hospitality sector, equivalent to a drop of $21 million in spending at accommodation, bars and food outlets.
Spending on fuel rose 0.4%.
