Midday markets up

The New Zealand and Australian stock markets rose on Tuesday.

By 1.20pm, the NZX had risen 22 points, or 0.6%, to 3684 on turnover of $36 million. The Australian 200 index was up 6 points, or 0.1%, at 4370.

The New Zealand dollar was trading at 80.86 US cents, 77.43 Australian cents, 51.51 pence, 64.23 yen and 0.6553 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 73.01.

Fletcher Building was up 5 cents at $6.62, Telecom up 5 cents at $2.79, Chorus up 2 cents at $3.27 and Contact Energy down 2 cents to $4.85.

Sky City Entertainment Group was down 2 cents to $3.80, Sky Network TV up 4 cents to $5.28, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare up 3 cents at $1.96 and the Warehouse up 2 cents to $2.70.

Vector was down 2 cents to $2.70, Hallenstein Glassson up 5 cents to $4.35, Nuplex up 7 cents to $4.35 and Ebos group up 5 cents to $8.10.

Summerset Group was down 7 cents to $1.88 and Cavalier down 2 cents to $1.64, while NZX was unchanged at $1.10.
