Benchmark NZX 50 index lifts a little

The stock exchange's benchmark NZX 50 index rose 6 points (0.16%) to close at 3629 on turnover of $124 million on Tuesday.

Cornerstone stock Telecom lifted 1.5 cents to $2.435, Fletcher Building rose 6 cents to $6.63, and Contact Energy was up 1 cent at $4.79.

Ebos Group rose 9 cents to $7.99, and Hallenstein Glasson rose 5 cents to $4.50.

Stocks which were unchanged included Sky City Entertainment Group ($3.76), and Fisher and Paykel Healthcare ($2.07).

Sky Network TV fell 3 cents to $4.95, and The Warehouse retail chain dropped 2 cents to $2.85.

Chorus fell 4 cents to $3.33, Xero fell 11 cents to $4.32, Mainfreight fell 12 cents to $9.77, OceanaGold dropped 11 cents to $3.15, and Trade Me fell 5 cents to $3.80.

At the close of the local business day, the NZ dollar was trading at 80.77 US cents, 78.00 Australian cents, 51.12 pence, 63.37 yen, 0.6466 of a euro, and the TWI was at 72.64 points.
