Wellington Drive Technologies has announced a partnership with PAX Scientific, an American engineering research and development company.
In August, the company said partnerships were needed so it could turn a profit.
Wellington Drive produces energy-efficent motor and control systems for the commercial refrigeration industry.
It says the two firms will collaborate on the development of low-noise fans to complement the motor range.
WDT says the addition of the fan technology will mean the company offers a full air-movement system to its customers.
It says the partnership also includes a licence to use PAX fluid-flow patented techniques in commercial fans from next year.
In August, the company reported a loss of $3.3 million for the six months to June, compared with a loss of $7 million for the same period last year.
The company said then that global demand remained weak and partnerships were needed to make a profit.
