Parcel post revamp

Australia Post is to revamp its parcel delivery process to take advantage of a boom in online shopping.

It is to open parcel lockers in 250 locations for people who are not home during business hours to receive parcel deliveries. The lockers will be accessible 24 hours per day.

Australia Post's annual report reveals the majority of the company's profit is now coming from parcels with most people collecting their parcel within six hours of receiving a text message advising receipt of the item.

The ABC reports the national letter delivery service continues to lose money as mail volumes continue to drop.
