Time to act on jobs - ILO

12:32 pm on 12 October 2012

The International Labour Organisation says it's time to act on creating jobs.

ILO director-general Guy Ryder is urging the leaders of the G20 group to make a co-ordinated effort to promote employment.

Some proposals being floated include a $US1 trillion spending plan on infrastructure by some G20 countries, which Mr Ryder supports, along with getting credit flowing again to small firms, plans to reduce youth unemployment and investing in social protection.

He says leaders need to act now.
