NZX 50 rises 24 points

The stock exchange's benchmark NZX50 index rose 24 points (0.6%) on Tuesday to close at 3941 on turnover of $126 million.

Cornerstone stock Telecom rose 2 cents to $2.40, its spun-off operations arm Chorus rose 7 cents to $3.43 and Fletcher Building jumped 16 cents to $7.52 .

Auckland Airport rose half a cent to $2.63, SkyCity Entertainment Group rose 6 cents to $3.82, and Sky TV Network rose 1 cent to $5.06.

AMP rose 13 cents to $5.73, and OceanaGold rose 6 cents to $4.17.

Fisher and Paykel Appliances was unchanged at $1.22, and Contact Energy's stock price fell 1 cent to $5.35.

Mainfreight fell 3 cents to $10.60, and Ebos Group fell 5 cents to $8.28.

Software seller Diligent Board Member Services fell 4 cents to $3.77 after announcing its third quarter results, and retailer Hallenstein Glasson fell 3 cents to $4.82.

At the end of the business day, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 81.63 US cents, 79.51 Australian cents, 50.79 pence, 64.35 yen, 0.6297 euro and the Trade Weighted Index was 72.82 points.
