New Zealand sharemarket down

The NZX50 index was down 3 points to close at 4001 on turnover of $105 million on Wednesday.

At 5.10pm the NZ dollar was buying 81.31 US, 78.80 Australian, 50.97 pence, 64.89 yen and 0.6256 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.59.

Telecom was up 0.5 cents at $2.48, Fletcher Building was down 3 cents to $7.35, Chorus was up 1 cent at $3.42 and Contact Energy was up 10 cents at $5.51.

Auckland Airport was down 1 cent at $2.68, SkyCity Entertainment Group was down 1 cent at $3.91 and Sky TV Network was up 2 cents to $5.26.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances was unchanged at $1.265, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was unchanged at $2.43 and The Warehouse was down 5 cents to $3.20.

Vector was down 15 cents to $2.75, A2 Corp was up 6 cents to 67 cents after it announced it has appointed a distributor of its infant formula in China.

OceanaGold was down 12 cents to $4.38, Colonial Motors was down 11 cents to $3.63, Diligent Board Member Services was down 8 cents to $3.56, AMP was down 8 cents to $5.85 and Hellaby Holdings was down 8 cents to $3.20.
