The Serious Fraud Office has laid charges against a second man over an investigation into Derivatek, an options trading company.

Last week, the SFO laid charges against options trader and Derivatek director, Gregory Alan Arnott.

It accuses Mark James Whelan of enlisting investors to invest funds with Mr Arnott and Derivatek, through his company Global Futures Trading.

Mr Whelan is facing charges of theft and making a false statement as a promoter,

As with Mr Arnott, the SFO says Mr Whelan used investors' funds to fund a portion of an advance fee for a $US20 million loan and for personal use.
