Transpower has recorded a profit of $72.1 million for the three months to September, compared with a loss of $11.5 million for the same period last year.
Stripping out adjustments, the profit stood at $66.3 million compared with $42.1 million last year.
The country's national grid operator says its financial performance is ahead of plan.
Transpower paid a final dividend to the Crown of $205 million in September, bringing the total dividend for the 2012 financial year to $315 million.
