Emirates airline says it posted a 104% increase in net profits in the first six months of the current financial year due to rising passenger numbers. Net profit was 1.7 billion dirhams.
In a statement, the Dubai airline said it had carried 18.7 million passengers since 1 April, up 15.4% compared with the same period last year.
Cargo volume was up by more than 16%, the airline said.
AFP reports Emirates posted revenues of 35.42 billion dirhams, up 17.3% from the corresponding period last year.
The group as a whole generated revenues amounting to 38.245 billion dirhams, with a net profit of 2.1 billion dirhams.
Emirates has a fleet of 183 aircraft serving 126 destinations in 74 countries.
