NZX 50 drops again on Monday

New Zealand's NZX 50 benchmark index fell 5 points on Monday to close at 3943 on turnover of $138 million.

Cornerstone stock Telecom fell 1 cent to $2.38, Ryman Healthcare fell 2 cents to $4.11, and Sky City dropped 3 cents to $3.75.

Auckland International Airport fell 1 cent to $2.645, Fletcher Building fell 7 cents to $7.38, and Freightways fell 7 cents to $4.27,

Among energy companies, Contact fell 2 cents to $5.14, TrustPower fell 2 cents to $8.45, and Vector dropped 5 cents to $2.66.

Kathmandu rose 2 cents to $1.87, Diligent rose 12 cents to $4.38, Cavalier rose 8 cents to $1.63, and Air NZ rose 2.5 cents to $1.23,

Mainfreight rose 12 cents to $10.70, Infratil rose 3.5 cents to $2.225, TradeMe rose 2 cents to $4.24, and

Xero jumped 14 cents to $5.99.

At the end of the local business day, the NZ dollar was trading at 81.36 US cents, 78.41 Australian cents, 51.11 British pence, 66.09 Japanese yen, 0.6373 Euro and the TWI was at 73.08 points.

Across the Tasman, the Australian share market picked up ground in late trade to finish back around session highs in a rally led by energy stocks.

The All Ordinaries Index added 0.5 per cent to 4,382 while the ASX 200 gained 25 points to 4,361.

Oil and gas producers made solid gains helped by tensions in the Middle East being perceived as threatening oil supplies.
