Japan's exports have fallen for a fifth consecutive month after demand in China and the European Union weakened.
Shipments fell 6.5% in October, from a year earlier. Exports to China declined 11.6% and were down 20% to Europe.
Japan's economy is heavily reliant on exports.
The BBC reports October's decline followed a 14.1% drop in exports in September.
Exports to the EU have now fallen for 13 consecutive months.
Japan reported last week that the economy contracted in the July - September period.
